Significance of Envelope Shaping:
Envelope Shaping offers another level of freedom to modify/manipulate the RF signal envlope to get more linearity out of Envelope Tracking (ET) system. The basic principle of this technique is to modify the signal in the digital domain such that upper and lower excursions of the signal are modified so that clipping is avoided at higher end and switching off of the device is avoided at the lower end.
Issues of Envelope Shaping:
Although in principle Envelope Shaping is quite intuitive but in-relaity its challenging to implement such that ET system performance is not compromised . By incorporating this technique, the system gets more complicated for obvious reasons.
Final take:
The final conclusion is that envelope shaping should be implemented with caution as it can complicate the already complicated ET system. However, if correctly implemented it brings reasonable benefits.
